Biolytix Lower Membrane
Просмотров 1,3 тыс.7 лет назад
We are finding that, eventually, the Biolytix systems are failing, primarily due to the fouling and sealing of the geofabric filter membrane towards the bottom of the tank. The other two membranes can also become blocked. This doesn’t allow water to percolate through into the pump chamber and the tank ‘floods’. A flooded tank and rising water will short out the electrical control box and aerato...

How loud is this pump in a real life situation? Friend of mine has another brand and during the night when using the toilet, you can hear the pump in the entire house!
Sounds pretty noisy
This seems crazy to me. You've just created a barrier to worms improving the soil by migrating up from the soil into the container confines.
Thanks Ross. Do you offer this service? We're on the Sunshine Coast
Fantastic video! Thanks so much!
my impression after watching many videos is that you didn t put enough tubing and too much sand so the water capacity in summer could be too small for such a big bed
Thanks for your explanation Ross, it is most helpful. I'm in the middle of trying to resurrect mine.
How did you go? We'd like to remediate too.
@@sunshinesimpleshift I ended up diverting the grey water away from the Biolytix to take the bulk of the load off it and it has been coping since then.
@@sunshinesimpleshift also, I contacted AA worm farms at the time and at a cost they can retrofit. Depending on your council, you may need to find a different dispersion area on your property. At least that's what AA said to me. If you have room then it's not a problem but I didn't have that option.
@@mrarkane thanks for your reply. I have started manually diverting grey water by catching washing machine water and sink water in buckets and carrying to the garden. I'm hoping it helps. I've found a guy to put in a breathable tube so fingers crossed.
@@sunshinesimpleshift glad you're on to it. Would it be too hard to divert the grey water pipes at your place?
so what is the reliability of these units, how often are they having problems. Is this unit still going strong without problems since you installed it? So far I read a number of people having issues with these pumps. I was thinking about getting one but I'm not so sure now.
My unit started to have a problem after about 5 or 6yrs of daily use. The internal bladder had a leak/hole…so pressure drops and the pump would keep on running every now and then. I’d say it was a normal wear and tear issue.
@@whyldthing86 thanks for the info
No in depth information or visual demonstration.
I installed this pump in our garage area... It's a good pump but quite noisy....
Do you think that this could replace my 3/4 hp shallow well pump in my basement?
I am not an expert (just a user of this pump)…my answer to your question is YES. BUT provided that water supply will not run dry.
@@whyldthing86 I had it installed about 9 months ago and it replaced the 3/4 hp just fine, it has managed to irrigate my front and back lawn included with the house water needs.
Do you need a barrel? Or you can connect directly to water pipe?
If your supply is clean and continuous, you don’t need a barrel to connect this. My supply is bad (lots of iron sediments and black sands) so I pre-filter them and use a staging tank (barrel) to supply my unit.
What measurement is the triangular bracket for the tap? I’m using 20mm
Would I need an AVR for the e-sybox? Would sediments destroy the internal bladder over a period of time. What is your recommendation? I have an esybox that the internal bladder leaked.
Yes you’ll need an AVR if the power in your place is erratic. If it is stable enough, it would be able to handle it. As for the sediments, my unit is installed after 3 filters (course sediments & iron, a another for smaller sediments, and finally a water softener) and a water staging tank where the water is sucked by the Esybox unit. The staging tank I use is just a blue HDPE that made into a water tank. The water exits in a hole that is about 100mm above the bottom so if there would sediments, it will not be sucked by the pump. The staging tank is roughly 200L. So if my water supply suddenly have low or zero supply, we have nearly 200L of water supply remaining.
how about the size and space allocation + depth etc, proximity to house etc? Thanks
How much?
I live in the United States. I bought this pump. Can you tell me where you got those braided hoses and connectors? They are not available in the US in that size. They look like 1 inch. Can you show me where I can buy them. I'm not worried about the extra shipping costs. Thanks. Tom
Where can i get those hoses?
You can contact waterInstallations and we can post it to you, office@waterinstallations.com
Hi, i have to install a pump in my attic, the area of the water tank which is basically the cealing of the bedroom so i need something really quiet. Do you suggest this one or something else?
The decibel volume is low but, if your attic is not insulated well, you might hear or fill the pump motor vibration when it is running. As a reference point an electric fan motor is more quiet and have lesser vibration that this… but a wash-and-dry washing machine is louder than this.
I have an older version of the E.SY BOX (maybe a bit bigger than the mini)...it suddenly just seems to be running every now and then to maintain the 3 bar pressure. The problem is that there are no open faucet using it and there are no obvious water leak in the pipe system of the house. Any hint what could be the issue and how to correct it?
Did you ever figure out what the issue is/was?
@@daftmario123 yes, there’s a hole in the rubber bladder.
Awesome, how come you can do the whole thing in 5 minutes and every other cretin takes 30 minutes to 2 hours to explain the same thing. I guess that's why we Aussies get the job done, more effort, less bullshit.
They are a lovely pump just installed one in my house
Did u installed it with the same metallic hoses or what did u used ?
@@rum5enina701 yes they don't give trouble
I hope that's available in the philippines.
It is available po in PH. Bestank is their dealer. I got my unit sa kanila.
@@whyldthing86 hm po?
@@dormamo6917 matagal ko na pong nabili yung unit ko. If I recall it right its between P30-40K po. Call ninyo Bestank na lang para updated ang presyo.
Nice, i am installing 2 esybox 2 hp each fot a small building with 10 apartments, that model can connect via wireless to another 3 units to offer a total of 480 lts/min
Can you connect directly to inlet pipes? Every video has a barrel on demo connection
@@chestiitari9531 sure you can, the stand it's not mandatory, more like a novelty
Where do u get the filter membrane ? :) thanks
Awesome
I'm no expert but I've watched dozens of these how to vids and he did everything all the others say not to do. Not enough piping for air, no fabric, no areas set for wicking, didn't use a light fluffy potting soil. I wouldn't do it this way.
How is it going to wick?
The BEST video with succinct and sensible advice - thankyou!!
The bottom will likely rust out over time..
Thanks for the straight to the point video. Some other wciking bed and garden videos are waaaay to long winded and overly complicated. Cheers.
Ha, I just posted that above!
Would this be similar to a subsurface constructed wetland for grey water treatment.
where do you buy the metal culvert?
birdiesgardenproducts.com.au/
Tractor supply or any other farm/feed store.
Made in Japan ?
What are your thoughts on using geotextile or shade cloth between the gravel and soil layers? I would have thought that without anything to separate them, that soil would eventually seep through into the gravel. Would it adversely affect the wicking process?
Who did you buy the tin baths of? BTW great video.
Why have you not placed geo fabric between your stone media and soil?
How deep should you dig?
Looking for your steel tub?! If I ask an expert on such things, What words do they use to define The tub you are using? Corrugated. Steel. ? . ? . What am I missing?
Usually, they are called 'Stock Tanks', and there are many different types. Hope that helps.
It seems like the water wouldn't wick if the dirt isn't touching the water. What happens when the water level goes down a little? Does the water still wick up though the gravel?
John Austin
I think that your system is great. The only thing that I would change, is that I would have a couple of tubes ~ Ag. (agricultural) Pipe ~ down into the gravel so that they filled with the compost. That way you are "wicking" the water up from the reservoir and into the compost.
sweet and simple,,thank you
WaterInstallations - Do I need to poke holes around the black flexible tubing? I feel sure you would have said in the video if that were so, but I couldn't tell from the video. You did a great job demonstrating this process. I sure thank you for taking the time to share this unique method with other interested gardeners.
The black flexible tubing is slotted. It's typically used for draining areas prone to flooding. In Australia we call it agi pipe. He should have mentioned it. If you can't find any, just drill holes in PVC pipe and wrap it in coarse cloth.
It's called drainage pipe.
Thank you for asking that question I was wondering how the water system worked!! I assumed that the black tubing must have holes but I would have liked it confirmed! LOL.
Hoping someone can answer this questions with conviction... What keeps the water in the area below the wick (the water in the manmade aquifer) from becoming stagnant and contaminated with yuk (mold, scum, what ever) if you get so much rain the water in the aquifer is not needed (not wicked up) for a long time?
Beneficial bacteria colonize on the gravel over time and the continuous resupply of fresh water prevent it from becoming septic
to add to cruzmissile 25 comment - heavy rain will fully occasionally change the water sitting in the reservoir
It's also getting no sunlight or fresh oxygen that helps bacteria grow. That's why people out in the bush dig for fresh water underground.
would you be able to do this on concrete and how would you do that as my backyard is full of concrete. please if you have the time?
Nice music. What is it please?
Is this more efficient?... Do you need to transplant already grown material?.. or from seed../
Very nice!
No problemo, thanks.
OK, thanks for the reply, I'm just thinking that if the water is in contact with the soil on the whole area of the container it would be too wet ... but I guess not.
